US Doctors in City to Learn Pune Technique of Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy
The technique was developed by Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar, who has demonstrated live surgeries at multiple workshops around the world.
Doctors associated with American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists are in Pune at Galaxy Laparoscopy Centre to learn Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy. This technique is known as 'Pune Technique' worldwide. The Pune Technique was developed by Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar, who has demonstrated live surgeries at multiple workshops around the world. Dr. Keith Isaacson, Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School; Dr. Robert Zurawin of Balor College of Medicine in Houston; and Dr. Charles Koh, Director of Milwaukee Institute of Minimal Invasive Surgery are the doctors who took the course.
“It was through friends of ours from AAGL who had come to teach here that we got to know about the Pune Technique. It turns out that Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar’s technique was much more skilled than theirs. One unique thing about this course is that we have hands-on teaching so that we can actually assist in a surgery,” says Dr. Keith Isaacson.
