Galaxy Care Hospital from Pune made India’s First Womb Transplant a Success

India’s 1st womb transplant carried out successfully at

Galaxy Care Hospital

from Pune on 18th May. A mother decided to donate her womb to her 21-year-old daughter as she was born without a uterus. The surgery started at 12 noon and continued till 9 pm.

The hospital will perform another two womb transplants. The first was successfully performed by Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar and his team of 12 surgeons on 18th May. The second will performed on 19th May on a woman who is suffering from ‘Asherman’s Syndrome’. The third womb transplant will be performed in June whose womb was taken out in the past due to cancer.
