Pune Surgeons conducted 2 Uterine Transplants in Gujarat in record 9 hours

PUNE: Galaxy Care Hospital in Pune is known for its expertise in Womb transplants as its surgeons conducted the first two successful uterine transplants in India In May 2017. Recently, a team of surgeons from the Galaxy Care Hospital performed 2 Uterine Transplants on two women in just 09 hours at IKDRC, Gujarat. Dr Shailesh Puntambekar, the Medical Director at Galaxy Care Hospital told The Indian Express, "Such an operation was conducted after two-and-a-half years following the Covid-19 pandemic. We performed nine uterine transplants, all in Maharashtra. Now, with the approval for Uterine Transplants by the Gujarat Government, our team of surgeons has conducted the transplants this Sunday”.
