Woman to get her mother’s womb, First Womb Transplant in Indian Medical History

India’s first womb (uterus) transplant successfully performed on Thursday at Pune’s

Galaxy Care Hospital

. A mother donated her womb to her 21 year-old daughter from Sholapur was born without uterus so that she can bear her own baby.

All surgeons around India were looking forward to the success of this transplant. After the surgery, Dr. Shailesh Puntambekar said, “The complicated surgery has been successful. The surgery went for around 10 hours.”
